Tree quilt – chapter 7

It’s done!  (Well, except for hand stitching the facing to the back, and adding a sleeve and label – the boring parts.)  And, it finally has a title – Even Trees Get the Blues (thanks to my sister Anne for this creative idea).  The finished size is 48.5 x 48 inches. TerryAske_EvenTreesGetTheBlues

As usual, I was a bit nervous about the free motion quilting, but once I started, I was happy with the results.  I did un-stitch some of the rolling hills and restitched them because I wasn’t happy with my first attempt.  I used a loose loopy shell stitch on the tree foliage, and I’m really happy with how it looks.  On the bottom section, I stitched around the leaf shapes and extended the leaf pattern into the mottled fabric.TerryAske_EvenTreesGetTheBlues_detail1
