PNW MQG Meetup and work on Kodiak portrait – 2014.08.24

This weekend was the long-awaited PNW MQG meetup hosted by VMQG.   The Friday evening picnic meetup was well attended and a lot of fun!

One of our events on Saturday was a short workshop by VMQG member Jessica – an introduction to indigo shibori dyeing.  Here I am unwrapping my first ever indigo dyed piece – how cool is that!  (photo by Karen C.)

And here are all the indigo projects from the morning session (mine is in the middle).

And now I’m back to working on Kodiak’s portrait.    I completed the thread-sketching last Thursday, and now I’ve started the quilting – the sky, house and tree branches have been quilted so far.

Ooooo, I’d love to get my hands on your indigo piece. I think it would make a lovely addition to the back of a new vest for me, or maybe the front panel of a relaxed skirt. (LOL) No truly, that is a lovely piece of indigo. Kodiak is coming along nicely too!

Love Kodiak! REally great portrait! Dogs are rather difficult to portray and this is just perfect – the anatomy, the personality… just everything! I will keep an eye on progress of this one, want to see what will you do with quilting. I always love to learn.

  3. Kodiak is looking fantastic. Isn’t indigo dyeing magical?

  4. I would love to take an indigo dyeing class. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Kodiak is wonderful!!
