WiP Wednesday from my Houston hotel room

I’m in Houston for the International Quilt Market and Festival (see my recent posts for details).  Today I have nothing scheduled for the morning, and the exhibits and quilt show will not be open until 5 pm.  In anticipation that I might have (or want) some quiet time in my hotel room, I brought some fabric, fusible web and sketches I’ve been planning to turn into quilts.  Here’s what I made this morning.  I just used a newspaper as the background because I didn’t have the right fabric, but I really like the look of it.

I’m linking up with these blogs for WiP Wednesday.  Click on the buttons below to see all the people participating and check out their projects.

As for your morning’s work — it’s delightful. Now to replicate that newspaper as background fabric. 🙂

hi Terri. Found you through WIP Wednesday. I absolutely love umbrella people silhouettes! They are absolutely awesome and I wish I had of thought of the idea. Enjoy Quilt Market, it would be awesome to be there.

  11. Love the newsprint with the bold, solid coloured folks. How bit will you make it? You could photograph the paper and print it on fabric.

Carolyn, what a great idea! If I can’t find fabric I like better, I may try that. I haven’t decided yet how big it will be.

Thanks, everyone! I’ve been thinking about umbrella pedestrians for a long time, and I’m really happy with how they look.

  13. That is so cool! And it looks really great on the newspaper!

  14. What neat applique! I am really curious to how this will turn out. So cool that you were in Houston for Quilt market and the festival. I loved looking at your pictures and posts!

  15. That is so gorgeous! You know… I like the newsprint. I recall there being a fabric with print like that. There’s just something about the black & white text running in lines down like rain. It’s perfect!!
    LOVE IT
