Aug 13. Today we walked along the Thames to the Tower Bridge, along the other side to the London Bridge and back to our hotel. It was another very hot day so we were grateful for the shady trees for part of our walk. ...10 0View Instagram post by terryaskeartquiltsOpen post by terryaskeartquilts with ID 17961597228179829Aug 13

Aug 10-11. Flew from Vancouver to London. Interesting drive through the city to our hotel. Lots of narrow cobblestone streets teeming with tourists both walking and cycling. Early night as we had no sleep on the plane. ...45 6View Instagram post by terryaskeartquiltsOpen post by terryaskeartquilts with ID 18081857597690601Aug 7

New portrait quilt – 2016.09.17
Last week, I saw that the deadline had been extended for the Quilting Arts ‘Who Do You Love?’ reader challenge. Even though I have a couple of other projects on the go, I decided to set them aside for a … Continue reading
‘Casper’ the cat is finished – 2016.04.24
The thread-sketched portrait of Casper is finished and has been shipped to my customer, Maureen. I didn’t finish the edges, because Maureen is going to incorporate Casper’s portrait into a pillow for her granddaughter. When I last posted about this … Continue reading
Cat portrait in progress – 2016.04.13
I’ve been working on a cat portrait, using the same techniques I used a couple of years ago for the portrait of ‘Baby’. In February, I received an email from Maureen, which said “My 9-year-old granddaughter asked me to help … Continue reading
Year in review – 2015.12.31
It’s that time of year again! An opportunity to review accomplishments and activities during the past year, and set goals for the new year. During 2015, I created 18 quilts. As you can see there were a few trees, and … Continue reading
New portrait quilt – 2015.12.24
Two years ago, I made a portrait quilt on commission, based on a photo of my client’s beautiful blue-eyed daughter. Earlier this year, she contacted me again about making a portrait quilt of her mother. She provided me with a … Continue reading
Self-portraits – 2015.12.02
Members of the Canadian Quilters’ Association should have received their Winter issue of The Canadian Quilter magazine. I knew that my article about how I create portrait quilts – and why I like to experiment with self-portraits – would be … Continue reading
Weekend finish – 2015.05.10
The photo on the left is how the abstract modern portrait quilt looked when I posted about it last week. I still wasn’t satisfied with the fabric selections for the groom’s neck and ear, so I changed them again. I … Continue reading
On my design wall – 2015.05.01
Now that my SAQA auction entry is finished, I’m back working on the wedding anniversary portrait. On the left below is how it looked last week. I found a medium gray fabric that works well for the groom’s shirt. And … Continue reading
On my design wall – 2015.04.26
Here’s a fun project! I’ve made a lot of custom portrait quilts, but my clients usually request a fairly realistic looking portrait. I made a self-portrait a few years ago in an abstract/pop art/Picasso/cubist style (as you can tell, I’m … Continue reading
2014 – Year in review
It’s that time of year again! An opportunity to review accomplishments in the past year, and set goals for the new year. During 2014, I created more than 25 quilts, which I think is my most prolific year so far! … Continue reading
