my design wall &#8211; 2013.07.24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m participating in an exciting collaborative quilt project &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/common-threads-125.tumblr.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\">Common Threads Indigo Quilt Project<\/a>.\u00a0 The project began with more than 40 people participating in the <a href=\"http:\/\/common-threads-125.tumblr.com\/post\/41589549485\/first-indigo-dye-day\" target=\"_blank\">dyeing<\/a> of 40+ meters of cotton, linen and silk.\u00a0 The indigo and shibori dyed <a href=\"http:\/\/common-threads-125.tumblr.com\/post\/44908133809\/stitched-shibori-resists-from-the-last-couple-of\" target=\"_blank\">fabrics<\/a> will be provided to each artist so that a consistent color palette will be used in each quilt.\u00a0 There is a curving red band in each quilt, positioned so that the band will appear to circle the room once all the quilts are hung.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/DSCN1298.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1295 and met with Sheila, one of the coordinators of the project.\u00a0 I selected the panel I&#8217;m going to work on, a 24 by 69 inch quilt.\u00a0 Sheila provided me with an amazing selection of the indigo fabrics.\u00a0 (I promised to return what I don&#8217;t use!)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my sketch of how I plan to piece my panel, and my first stab at selecting fabrics.\u00a0 I&#8217;m planning to do a lot of improv curved piecing, and lots of curved lines of machine quilting.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure if I will piece or applique the flying geese.\u00a0 I want it to look like sky and clouds at the top, with waves and water (the Fraser River) at the bottom.<\/p>\n<p><a
