If there ever was a ‘work in progress’ it’s keeping my fabrics, notions and paperwork in an organized fashion!\u00a0 When I moved into my newly renovated quilt studio<\/a> just over a year ago, I stored things based on how I expected to use the space.\u00a0 \"T.AskeOf course, how I’m actually using the space isn’t exactly the way I had planned it.<\/p>\n

For example, my portable design wall is almost always propped up against one counter, making it awkward to access the cupboards behind it.\u00a0 It occurred to me recently that I’m often shifting the design wall around to get at some of the drawers and cupboards behind it.<\/p>\n

I also realized that I’ve lost track of what is lurking at the back of some of the drawers and closet shelves.\u00a0 So I’ve made a drawing of the room, and I’ll make notes as I put things away.\u00a0\u00a0 I also plan to measure the inside dimensions of every drawer, shelf and cupboard and note it on the drawing. \u00a0\"DSCN1336\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"DSCN1314\"<\/a>Another area that needs some (!) organizing is my little office area.\u00a0 Note the pile of papers that need to be sorted and filed.\u00a0 \"File-Folders\"<\/a>I realized I put papers in a pile because it’s difficult to pull out the file folders for every paper as it arrives.\u00a0 To the right, is how I’d like my files to look.\u00a0 I think with a filing system I can more easily access, I should be able to keep up with the paper.\u00a0 I’d love to also have color coordinated files, but we’ll see if that works out.<\/p>\n
