First, I have a finish to show off.\u00a0 My entry for the Modern Metallic quilt exhibit is finished and has been submitted.\u00a0 The finished size is 37 x 36 inches.\u00a0 I called it ‘All That Glitters’.\u00a0 Every fabric has some metallic in it, the bias tape outlining each circle is metallic, and it’s quilted with a gold-copper variegated rayon thread.<\/p>\n

As I mentioned last week<\/a>, I was having a problem with the quilt top not lying flat.\u00a0 I spray-basted the back to the batting; then I positioned the top, but pinned only the center circle.\u00a0 I started quilting from the center, pulling the top into shape as I worked outward – it worked even better than I hoped it would!\u00a0 The spiral quilting worked fairly well – I only had to remove and re-stitch a few inches of stitching in the center where my curves weren’t quite smooth enough.<\/p>\n

Swoop<\/a> has been accepted for the IQF Tactile Architecture<\/a> 2014 exhibit, which will debut in Houston this fall.<\/p>\n

The Canadian Quilters’ Association has posted all the 137 entries<\/a> to the Trend-Tex challenge – Modern Ways.\u00a0 It’s inspiring to see that variety of ways the participants used the 5 challenge fabrics.\u00a0\u00a0 My two quilts<\/a> are number 119 and 120.<\/p>\n

More eye candy – SAQA has posted the 407 entries to the 25th Anniversary Trunk Show<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 My quilt<\/a> is in group B.<\/p>\n

This weekend, I’m attending a weekend quilt retreat with the Vancouver Modern Quilt <\/a>\"10253842_738282236216910_7491457362171842147_n\"<\/a>Guild<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 I have lots of projects to work on – a new portrait quilt, a new art quilt, my entry for the new MQG Michael Miller fabric challenge<\/a>, and several UFO projects.<\/p>\n

Plus, I won the block lottery<\/a> at the last VMQG meeting.\u00a0 I have to make a quilt from these blocks before I can enter another block lottery.<\/p>\n
