{"id":2312,"date":"2014-10-18T11:19:50","date_gmt":"2014-10-18T18:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/?p=2312"},"modified":"2014-10-18T11:19:50","modified_gmt":"2014-10-18T18:19:50","slug":"on-my-design-wall-2014-10-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/2014\/10\/18\/on-my-design-wall-2014-10-18\/","title":{"rendered":"On my design wall &#8211; 2014.10.18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve made lots of progress on the dog portrait in the last couple of days &#8211; I have all the pieces cut and positioned on a piece of parchment paper, ready to be fused.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Toby-ready-for-fusing.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2313\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Toby-ready-for-fusing.jpg?resize=640%2C470\" alt=\"Toby-ready for fusing\" width=\"640\" height=\"470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Toby-ready-for-fusing.jpg?resize=1024%2C753&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Toby-ready-for-fusing.jpg?resize=300%2C220&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Toby-ready-for-fusing.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Toby-ready-for-fusing.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are the steps I used to get to this stage:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Photo 1 below<\/span> &#8211; all of the fabric pieces are backed with fusible web.\u00a0 Some have the backing paper removed, but most still have the paper attached &#8211; because that makes it easier to rearrange the pieces (once the backing paper is removed, the pieces start sticking to each other).\u00a0\u00a0 So the pieces are all pinned in place on the original full size pattern, and now I need to remove pins, peel off backing paper and position each piece in place.\u00a0 That&#8217;s difficult to do because most of the pieces are overlapping other pieces.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Photo 2 below<\/span> &#8211; I printed another full size pattern, pinned it to another small design board, pinned parchment paper over that (so I can fuse the pieces together when I&#8217;m ready, and then just peel it off the parchment paper).\u00a0 I also traced the major design lines onto another piece of parchment paper which I pinned to the top of the design board.\u00a0 Then I moved the pieces one by one from the first design board to the second one. As I moved each piece, I flipped up the tracing, positioned the piece, then flipped the tracing back in place to ensure the fabric piece was in the right place.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Photo 3 below<\/span> &#8211; all pieces are positioned on the bottom layer of parchment paper with the tracing on top.\u00a0 At this point, the pieces are just finger-pressed in place.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Photo 4 below<\/span> &#8211; all pieces positioned, tracing removed.\u00a0 Ready to fuse together.<\/p>\n<p><a
