11 x 15 inches.\u00a0 I placed a sheet of tracing paper over the pencil sketch and drew the outlines and added design lines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pencil-sketch-1.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2701\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pencil-sketch-1-221x300.jpg?resize=221%2C300\" alt=\"pencil sketch\" width=\"221\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pencil-sketch-1.png?resize=221%2C300&amp;ssl=1 221w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pencil-sketch-1.png?resize=757%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 757w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pencil-sketch-1.png?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pencil-sketch-1.png?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I traced the individual pattern pieces onto fusible web.\u00a0 I cut a piece of black fabric and started auditioning fabrics &#8211; the fun part, but also the most time consuming.\u00a0 It&#8217;s important to have a good range of values and colors, but it&#8217;s hard to tell until they are all together on the design wall which fabrics will work and which won&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>I started with the bride.\u00a0 I decided it would be fun to use white fabrics for the bride&#8217;s veil and dress, and realistic dark colors for the groom&#8217;s hat and clothes. \u00a0 I probably auditioned twice as many fabrics as I used, and I changed my mind a few times about some of the fabrics, but I&#8217;m happy with the colors below.\u00a0 I made sure I had good value differences by converting the photo to black &amp; but there&#8217;s no point in trying to select a background fabric until I&#8217;m sure of all the others.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to leave it for now, and see what I think tomorrow when I look at it with fresh eyes &#8211;
