even easier corners &#8211; 2016.06.12"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Wildfire&#8217; is almost finished.\u00a0 The facings are sewn, and just need to be hand-stitched to the back.<\/p>\n<p>I experimented with a new technique and I&#8217;m very pleased with how it turned out.\u00a0 Instead of cutting the batting larger than the quilt top, I cut the batting to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">exactly<\/span> the size I wanted the finished size to be.\u00a0 I made the quilt top and back about 1&#8243; bigger on each side than the finished size.\u00a0 I machine basted the batting to the backing just inside the edge of the batting, as seen below (excuse the over-exposed photo).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/basting-batting-to-back.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3441\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3441\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/basting-batting-to-back.jpg?resize=300%2C214\" alt=\"basting batting to back\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/basting-batting-to-back.jpg?resize=300%2C214&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/basting-batting-to-back.jpg?resize=768%2C548&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/basting-batting-to-back.jpg?resize=1024%2C731&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/basting-batting-to-back.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/basting-batting-to-back.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I basted the quilt top to the back as close as I could to the edge of the batting, but without actually sewing through the batting.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t see where the edge of the batting was, but I could feel it through the top.<\/p>\n<p>Once the quilting was finished, I trimmed the top and back to about 1\/2&#8243;
