Last week, I saw that the deadline had been extended for the Quilting Arts ‘Who Do You Love?’ reader challenge<\/a>.\u00a0 Even though I have a couple of other projects on the go, I decided to set them aside for a few days, and create a quilt for the challenge.<\/p>\n

I have a great photo of my husband, that I have been meaning to turn into an art quilt portrait.\u00a0 It was taken on a sailing vacation, and has wonderful side-lighting.\u00a0\u00a0 After doing some digital editing and manipulation of the image, I asked my husband what color he would like to be – blue it is!\u00a0\u00a0 You will notice that the photo is somewhat pixelated, but I think that adds interest to the finished quilt.<\/p>\n

I printed the photo on fabric, then fused on the sunglasses and stitched them.\u00a0 I drew in the details – facial features and hair – with a blue crayon pencil.\u00a0 Then I thread-sketched the details with navy thread.\u00a0 The letters are fused and outlined with blue pencil crayon.<\/p>\n

The title of the quilt is ‘U R my Sunshine’ and the finished size is 10″ x 10″ (as required by the challenge rules).<\/p>\n
