2018.01.04"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy New Year!<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of each year, I like to review my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/2017\/01\/06\/annual-goal-setting-plans-for-january-2017-01-06\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">goals for the previous year<\/a>, as well as my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/2017\/12\/30\/year-in-review-2017-12-30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accomplishments<\/a>.\u00a0 Then I think about what I want to accomplish in the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m satisfied with the way things are going, so I&#8217;m not making any dramatic changes.<\/p>\n<p>Here are my goals for 2017, and how I am going to carry them over (or not) to 2018:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>explore new exhibit opportunities to enter and show my work<\/em> &#8211; I will definitely continue with this in 2018.\u00a0 I&#8217;m off to a good start.\u00a0 In January, I plan to submit entries to:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/curatedquilts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Curated Quilts<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/curatedquilts.com\/blogs\/news\/minimal-mini-quilts-call-for-entries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minimal Mini Challenge<\/a> (blog post coming soon)<\/li>\n<li>Canadian Quilters Association <a href=\"http:\/\/njs.canadianquilter.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Juried Quilt Show<\/a> (I&#8217;m so excited that Quilt Canada is going to be here in Vancouver this year!)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saqa.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAQA<\/a>&#8216;s exhibit <a href=\"http:\/\/saqacallforentrydusktodawn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dusk to Dawn<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>explore new workshop ideas &#8211; <\/em>I didn&#8217;t develop any new workshops, but I already have several trunk shows\/lectures and workshops booked for 2018 and even 2019.\u00a0 See my schedule <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/workshop-descriptions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><em>create a series of tree quilts, each with different techniques.<\/em> &#8211; No tree quilts were made in 2017, so I&#8217;m going to scrap this goal for 2018, and just focus on whatever subject matter captures my interest &#8211; which may or may not include trees!<\/li>\n<li><em>continue to collaborate with my fiber artist sister <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fibreartnetwork.com\/artists-gallery\/AnnedeVerteuil\/228\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anne<\/a> on one or more fiber art projects<\/em>\u00a0 &#8211; Anne and I worked on a joint project throughout 2017 (blog post coming soon).<\/li>\n<li><em>de-clutter and re-organize my studio<\/em> &#8211; I started off strong in 2017, with a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/2017\/02\/23\/fabric-and-scrap-organization-2017-02-23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scrap organization<\/a> system (see photo below), a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BRmOBFOhgrn\/?taken-by=terryaskeartquilts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">closet re-organization<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BThkLu5hTyK\/?taken-by=terryaskeartquilts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paper re-organization<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 But there&#8217;s a lot more to be organized, so this will stay on my list for 2018 &#8211;
