dog portrait &#8211; 2013.04.07"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been working on a new dog portrait.\u00a0\u00a0 This is Courtenay, an Airedale Terrier.\u00a0\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the starting photo, and the fabrics I plan to use.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_5910.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_5910\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_5910.jpg?resize=232%2C175\" width=\"232\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a> <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DSCN0659\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSCN0659.jpg?resize=371%2C173\" width=\"371\" height=\"173\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I used Picasa to crop the photo, then used the &#8216;posterize&#8217; once I&#8217;m happy with the fabrics for the face, the rest will be easy.\u00a0 I usually start with the lightest fabrics first then layer the darker fabrics on top.\u00a0 That way the darker fabrics don&#8217;t show through the lighter ones.\u00a0 I constructed the face by fusing it to parchment paper then peeling it off when it was complete.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the face and one paw pinned to the full size posterized photo on my design wall.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSCN0699.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-918\" alt=\"DSCN0699\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSCN0699.jpg?resize=300%2C253\" width=\"300\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSCN0699.jpg?resize=300%2C253&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSCN0699.jpg?resize=1024%2C863&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSCN0699.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.terryaskeartquilts.com\/Studio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSCN0699.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll construct the other paw and rest of the body before I even think about what colors I&#8217;ll use for the background.<\/p>\n<p>Check back in a day or two for more process photos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
